What buyers actually search for, and what sellers actually ask, counted from 9,938 searches and 7,700 cars listed on Motifiti over the last 30 days.

Most Kenyans are shopping below the market

The typical buyer on Motifiti sets a ceiling of KES 1,000,000. The typical car on it is listed at KES 1,950,000, close to double. That single gap explains most of what follows.

Where buyers outnumber cars

Searches for every one of these listed on the site. A high number means plenty of people looking and little to choose from, which is where a buyer should expect to move quickly and a dealer should expect to sell.

How this was counted

Every figure comes from Motifiti itself over the last 30 days: 9,938 searches typed by buyers, and the 7,700 cars with a price that were listed when this page was built. Searches are counted in aggregate and never tied to a person.

Prices are what sellers are asking, not what cars sold for, and not a valuation. We do not inspect vehicles or verify their condition, mileage or paperwork. Typical means the median, so half the cars are above it and half below, which one unusually expensive listing cannot move.

A model appears only once at least 20 people searched for it and at least 5 are listed, because a ratio built on two searches and one car is noise. Prices in foreign currency are left out rather than counted as shillings.

The figures refresh through the day. Please link to this page rather than copying the numbers, so whoever reads you sees the current ones.
